Presenting at the Fall 2013 meeting of SREE

I am an Institute of Education Sciences (IES) postdoctoral fellow at Northwestern University. I am advised by Larry Hedges. My interest in education research stems from my experience as a Teach For America corps member in the Mississippi Delta.

I earned my Ph.D. from Carnegie Mellon University's joint Ph.D program in Statistics and Public Policy. During my time at CMU, I was a Program for Interdisciplinary Education Research (PIER) fellow who occasionally presented at and helped to organize the Statistics in Education Research Group (SERG) seminar.

I am currently on the job market. My preference is for tenure track positions at either (i) a statistics / data science / math department that values collaboration with the social sciences or (ii) a college of education / department of public policy that values research in statistical methodology. I am also open to other kinds of positions; please contact me if you would like to discuss an opportunity.

The easiest way to reach me is at nathanvan AT northwestern FULL STOP edu

My last name is pronounced as van-HOD-ness. More details about the spelling of my name can be found here.

My office is at 2046 Sheridan Rd in Room 304A.
